Excellent accuracy: simulated vs. real part in thick sheet metal
The challenges of forming thick sheet metal above 2.5mm are very different to those of thinner parts. In this example, the difficulty is that due to a bending radius smaller than the sheet thickness, the difference between the top and bottom side is huge. This results in bending cracks and surface defects. In this case you can see very well how close the solid simulation is to the real part. With thick sheets, Stampack's solid simulation ensures that:
• The part is in tolerance, no matter how small the bending radii are!
• The quite high forces are accurately predicted!
• Failure is predicted throughout the thickness and not just in the mid-plane!
• Surface defects are accurately identified!
